Good Hair In The Community
At Good Hair, we believe in COMMUNITY. Together, we are stronger and more capable of supporting those in our neighborhoods, schools and families. We aim to be a supporter of our community in four ways:
* Providing group sessions for women, children and the community to connect, learn and grow together.
* Support school organizations, programs and events to encourage equity in partcipation and cultural supports.
* Sponsor local events, teams and churches in their efforts to support students, families and the community.
* Offer clean, low-cost styling spaces and promotional programs for natural braiders and stylists.
Haircare in the Rams Den
Highlands Rams Den is a free store in the Highlands School District that distributes donated clothing, jackets, hygiene products and more to students and families who may have a need. Good Hair Boutique donates 10% of every Sunday's sales to purchase hair care products and styling tools that black and brown students can use for haircare. Read more about the Highlands Rams Den and how you can donate here.
Monthly Group Sessions
Life was not meant to be done alone! At Good Hair, we host monthly workshops and invite the community to participate in a learning session, creative arts session and more! These include Ladies Nights, Stylist Sip + Sales, and Business Launch Networks. Tickets are kept at a low cost to cover materials or guest instructors, and scholarships are available to cover the cost. Sign up for our email list and join us at one of our monthly events!
Let's Go, Lady Rams!
Good Hair Boutique knows that WOMEN CAN DO ANYTHING! And we especially love watching and supporting our community's GIRLS SPORTS. Good Hair Boutique is a proud sponsor of the Highlands Lady Rams for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.
Next Steps Celebration
Good Hair Boutique understands the financial cost and need that comes with graduating high school or acheiving a GED diploma. Next Steps in life can be costly and induce anxiety. This summer, we hosted our first annual Next Steps Box Donation Drive and Next Steps Celebration. Youth who graduated in June or young people who achieved their GED diploma and were preparing for their next steps in life (college, trade school, parenthood, first apartment, etc.) were invited to celebrate their accomplishments and leave with a tote box full of toiletries, bed sheets, laundry supplies and more to start their new lives. We can't wait for the next Next Steps Celebration this summer! In addition to Good Hair, Dangerous Generation, Just Press Play, Quick-E Food Truck, and the community contributed for an outstanding event for these much-deserving individuals. CONGRATS ON YOUR NEXT STEPS! If you would like to sponsor or contribute to our 2025 event, email us!
Affordable Launching Space
Good Hair understands that natural braiding and haircare is a cultural experience and lifelong knowledge that is engrained into our black and brown communities. Despite political and systemic barriers, particularly in the Alle-Kiski Valley that our store is homebased in, hair artists can provide exceptional services and styles in the community. At Good Hair, we offer styling space for at-home and traveling hair artists who are just launching their hairstyling businesses or just need a centralized, clean space to take clients. Good Hair also offers promotional and marketing supports for hairstylists and small businesses in the community to grow their clientele or their businesses. This year, we are so thankful to have received a $10,000 grant from Backing Small Businesses Main Street America / American Express program to create a styling station in our store.

Student Hygiene Drive
Good Hair Boutique LLC is a proud donator of the Chatham Feminist Coalition student hygiene product drive for children and families this Fall. The Coalition, a space for individuals passionate about intersectional social activism and gender equity, collected items to be distributed by local nonprofit organizations for families and children.
From LinkedIn: "The Community Service Club, Chatham Feminist Coalition, and Triota are teaming up to organize a Student Hygiene Donation Drive from Monday, October 14, to Monday, October 23, to collect donations for the nonprofit Pittsburgh Area Community Schools (PACS).
Many Pittsburgh students lack essential items to keep them feeling happy, healthy, and comfortable while they’re in school trying to learn. Your donation of hygiene products could give students the tools they need to succeed in school, and they look forward to a brighter future!
Donations will be collected at Anderson Dining Hall at Chatham University’s Shadyside campus.
THANK YOU to Misty Woody, owner of Good Hair Boutique LLC, for donating wave caps, brushes, conditioners, edge control, hair accessories, and more, all for curly/textured hair!"
